Abstract

Garbage is often a phenomenon of problems that cannot be solved effectively. Various methods and strategies have been carried out by both the government, institutions and other activists. Public awareness that is still low in processing waste has become one of the big problems that has always been the reason for the emergence of the impact of waste.

In Kopen Village, located in Ngadirejo Sub-District, Kartasura District, Sukoharjo Regency, there are communities that have organic waste management activities. The organic waste is processed into compost. Through the Kopen Education Tourism Village, the residents have been independent in managing the activity, even the results of the fertilizer from the organic waste have been sold in the market. However, the production is still in a small scale, this is because the technology in fertilizer management is still using the manual method by hand. Residents managing organic fertilizer are given an organic waste mixer machine with dimensions of 1000 x 50 x 80 mm with a 5.5 PK petrol engine. Furthermore, managers are given training on how to use machines and maintenance as well as an effective fertilizer marketing strategy.

The output in this activity is in the form of garbage mixer products, scientific journal publications, IPR drafts and publications in the mass media. It is hoped that this program can provide benefits to partner communities by increasing fertilizer productivity and improving the economy of the local community.
